It's apparently been sitting here waiting for me to contribute for many several months, yet I've only just figured out this fact (with the help of a friendly Dan). Ok, so here I am, I'm here, I have a blog... Now I'm supposed to say something deep and meaningful about what's going on in my life / the world, talk about things I like, and other such things, right? Well, not much chance of that happening, so here's some stuff off the top of my head.
I have a presentation to give on Thursday to some very important people about Office and Outlook integration. Sure, I've used Outlook for many years, and I've done a fair amount of Word macro work within the past 12 months, but am I really prepared for the sorts of questions I might face? Come to think of it, what sort of questions _am_ I likely to face? Well, I have three days to find out all I can, prepare as much as I can, and get myself ready. (If you can think of any specific questions, I'd welcome the feedback!) First step - do I try to create a set of VMs incorporating Exchange, Outlook and Sharepoint so I can give funky demos? I have a feeling that this might be a good idea, but never actually having set up Exchange before, this could be tricky.
So, while part of my brain ponders this dilemma, the other 50% is split between two things. The first of those things (which probably occupies the majority of that 50%) is to figure out how much money we actually have to spend on a new car (to replace the ickle Ka). Drove a very lovely, very speedy Mazda MX5 yesterday. Currently awaiting some prices from the dealer! So, the remaining 10% of my brain activity is split between that nagging worry that I have to finish another chapter on my latest book ASAP! (by wednesday), and how to play out my next Sims session. I'm a bit addicted to playing Sims at the moment. Made some freaky blue and pink hair styles yesterday, which was a lot of fun :) The challenge now is to avoid playing it again until after I hand in my next chapter.
