Women - not just chained to the sink, but part of the utility room?

I really honestly couldn't believe this when I saw it (many thanks to Jim Minatel for bringing this to my attention!) - what the hell was Ecclestone thinking?!

Fox Sports is reporting that F1 chief doofus had this to say about the IRL's Danica Patrick:

"You know, I've got one of these wonderful ideas that women should be all dressed in white like all the other domestic appliances."

The sooner they launch a new championship - some sort of spin off, free from the rules and decisions made by incompetant and self-important fools - the better. And I seriously hope we one day end up with the likes of Danica Patrick in the middle of it - I'd not heard of her achievements before (we don't really get Indy 500 over here), but its great to hear of fellow fridge-freezers making their mark in the utility room world of men.

If women are domestic appliances, does that make men power tools? 'Cos I think Bernie Ecclestone demonstrated the fact that he's a tool quite effectively...

Chris:
I'm so glad you saw this and picked up on it. I'm still so stunned that this hasn't been a bigger story here in the States. A month ago, a NASCAR driver (Robbie Gordon) stated Danica Patrick had an unfair driving advantage because she weighs 60 pounds less than most of the other drivers in IndyCar. He was forced to apologize and retract and was demonized by the U.S. media. Why Bernie has been given a free ride on what seems to me to be a much worse statement I don't know.
