I hate calling the baby "it", but until we know the gender, we're stuck, so we had an idea. Being of a geeky disposition, James and I decided to adopt a codename for the project under construction, in true Microsoft style.
You see, those geeks among you will have noticed that Windows codename "Longhorn" will actually be called Windows Vista when it's finally released, so this is the thinking behind our decision to name our little project codename Firefly. It's a bit esoteric, but it's a project under construction. Currently the majority of its features are complete, with small details yet to be implemented in detail, so it's like the first scan is an early preview of what is to come.
Next stage is the public beta, which willl be when we have a scan in early October to check for any bugs or missing features. The full release in February will coincide with the actual name being announced...
A friend of ours recently joked that we're the sort of geeky couple that will have to implement some kind of crib-based instant messaging, which is an amusing thought, but hey, what about having a webcam conversation to watch over the little thing as it sleeps? Now that could be fun to set up...
