Travel preparations

James and I will be heading off to sunny California in just a couple of days from now, where we'll combine a bit of a holiday with attending Microsoft's PDC (Professional Developer Conference). Packing, as always, will be a last minute thing, but it's ok - we have made a list of things we need to remember, so hopefully we won't forget anything.

Still not sure which sessions I'll head to when I'm there, but there is one that caught my eye - Women and Technology: Dream, Code, Run, which seemed quite appropriate. I'm hoping it won't end up being a militant feminist rant, but more a reasoned discussion or debate about the issues us girls have to face in a male-dominated industry.

The last thing to mention is a bit of a silly thing - we've made up some t-shirts especially for PDC for me to wear, covered in geeky slogans and the like, relating to my current situation. Pictures will be taken, and I'll post 'em up here when I get back. I may be able to blog while I'm out there, so watch this space :)

I remember a couple of years ago at the last PDC, some guy saying "Hey, I might go to that Woment and Technology talk - see if I can pick up any chicks". I felt sorry for him, not only for his attitude, but for the whiplash reaction he'd get 8)

Oh, and I just though of <baby> </baby> for around the bump.

As it turns out, the keynote overran, and they decided not to reschedule this talk. Evidently, the role of women in technology isn't all that important to some people.
