With around 12 weeks to go, I'm now into the final trimester of pregnancy, and I'm now waddling around with a massive bump in front of me. The second trimester flew by, including a fabulous holiday, and quite a bit of work-related travel. I felt great for most of the last three months, but now I'm finding things are getting harder.
For starters, I'm huge - it's official. I'm bigger front-to-back than I am side-to-side. Everyone at the office seems to enjoy pointing out this fact, and we all wonder how big I'll be by the end. It doesn't help that, out of the three pregnant people in the office, I'm due about a month ahead of the others, so I'm going to be bigger than they are at this stage no matter what. But that doesn't stop me wondering whether I'm about the right size, too big or whatever. I've got an appointment with the midwife next week for a checkup, so I guess I can ask her then, but I think I'm fairly normal for this stage. Everyone's bump is different - mine just seems to enjoy growing!
Aside from physical proportions, I'm finding it pretty hard to get up stairs without running out of air, and tying my shoe laces has started to involve a certain amount of contortionism and strange grunting. Mr Bump seems to take a great deal of pleasure in squirming, kicking and stretching at all hours of the day, even managing to wake me up a couple of times a night. I've managed to find some shawls and scarves to keep me warm through the winter since I don't seem to own any coats that fit me any more - the only official coat for pregnant people I found in the shops was from Top Shop maternity - but at a cost of £70, I'm going to give that one a miss and just make do as best I can! I'm not spending that amount of money for two month's wear!
We're getting a 4D scan in just over a week so we're really hoping we'll get a good look at Mr Bump himself - the results of which may well be posted online for your viewing pleasure.
