Well its been a interesting day having half our dev crew suddenly up sticks at 4pm to rush home because they recognized the destroyed buildings in the BBC photos being significantly close to their own homes. Our codeshop is a few miles away in Bromsgrove where we had one of the more typical 5 minute deluge and mugginess. A tornado in South Birmingham. Who'd'a thunk?
I drove a mate back to Moseley where the tornado hit. "I keep thinking we'll turn a corner and see mass destruction", he said. Then we turned a corner and saw a car significantly flatter than...
I've been to a few 48 hour film marathons. Most time, I managed to stay awake long enough to maybe 14 of the 18 or so that usually get shown. With Bernadette's Crucible now wrapped and the audio post still to do, there's a lull. Or at least there would be if I hadn't just volunteered to take part in the local 48 hour film challenge. I'll be needing some sleep then.

One truism of new development software is that however much is promised, once its installed it won't blow you off you seat with its glitzy UI and idiotproofness. You need to work at it a little. I bit the bullet this morning and signed onto MS UK Beta Experience program to get a hold of VSTS beta 2 and, coincidentally, the WeFly dev kit that Dave has been working on.

Our destination was Chichester, a old Roman town stuck between Portsmouth and Brighton. This is actually a posher, smaller version of Canterbury with its blessedly cool cathedral, old buildings down the main streets and the old property or two for over a million in the estate agent windows.
This weekend was the last of the Chichester Festivities fortnight and although we had originally planned to go and see...

Well, that about wraps it up for a few things. Wrox's Beginning ASP.NET 2.0 is a much better book than Beg ASP.NET 1.x even in the draft stage. It's probably because there was no pressure from Wrox to produce a beta edition of the book. Of course, the text has been written against beta 2 but will be checked against the RTM build before its published. All being well, the major changes occured between beta 1 and beta 2 but you never can tell. With any luck, a big change will just mean that the book is not quite day...
