Precious gems

These raindrops on the alchemilla mollis in the garden looked like precious gems. (Look, no gratuitous joke about this being the wettest drought in history—at least it’s stopped raining long enough to get out in the fresh air and take some pictures!)

A Frog Box Design on top of the world... literally!

A little while ago, I told you about two young britons who were attempting to climb Mount Everest. Well, the good news is they succeeded! They had pledged to take their sponsors’ flags to the summit with them and, true to their word, here they are with the Christ’s Hospital flag. Rob Gauntlett and James Hooper, the youngest Britons to Climb Everest with the Christ’s Hospital flag showing the logo re-drawn by Frog Box Design.

Small kindnesses

I spent a day last weekend helping Chris and James do their front garden because Chris doesn’t have a lot of spare time nowadays! Chris left me to it after a bit to go and feed Nathan, so I had a lovely day weeding, digging over and then planting a whole border-full of pretty flowers, in a real garden! You see, when I finished the weeding, Chris said that I could plant the flowers because I’d done all the weeding. Wow! And there I was thanking them for letting me loose on the garden. Later on, Nathan was super-tired, but too excited by...

How to Print Screen in Windows XP

An explanation for printing the screen (once you’ve fininished putting together you according to South Park) is in order for Froggy Mummy and Jan. So, without further ado, instructions to print screen in Windows XP or “Ever wondered why the Print Screen key doesn’t do anything?” To make the Print Screen do exactly that, first you need to save an image of what’s displayed on-screen. This is saved to the clipboard and from there you can paste it into different applications and finally print it (or, in this case, save it and email it to me and let me know if...

Go ahead, make my day

I had an interesting email correspondence the other day and I thought I’d share it with you. It all started with the email below: I happen to have stumbled upon your website and have to tell you, I really like the "floating" forms technique you've used. I'm learning ASP.NET 2.0 and was wondering how you managed to create that illusion. Did it require quite a bit of coding, or was it fairly simple? Well, of course I had to reply and explain how it was done. By “floating forms” I assume you’re talking about the fact that the content of the web page centres...

Me (according to South Park)

I found the coolest thing the other day. Ever wondered what the Frog Blogger looks like? Then wonder no more! Here’s me in the winter And here’s me in the summer These were created using the fantastic South Park Studio and they gave me an idea... Let’s all “Create a South Park Me” and post a link to it online in the comments. You’ll need to take a screenshot and crop it down to the finished product before posting it—unless you want the rest of us to see what’s on your desktop, of course! Yes, Froggy Mummy etc, you can email it to me and...

CH Association 2: the Return of the Site

This month’s project has been getting version two of the CH Association website up and running. The new site incorporates all the content from another site that was started over six years ago, so it all needed stripping out and reformatting semantically. I’ve spent a lot of the last few weeks swapping <br> for </p> and putting things that were listed into... well, lists! The site also takes advantage of the RSS revolution and even has a mobile phone-friendly section! We’re really hoping that the new site will encourage even more of the School’s Old Blues (aka alumni) to use the site...
