So, without further ado, instructions to print screen in Windows XP or “Ever wondered why the Print Screen key doesn’t do anything?”
To make the Print Screen do exactly that, first you need to save an image of what’s displayed on-screen. This is saved to the clipboard and from there you can paste it into different applications and finally print it (or, in this case, save it and email it to me and let me know if you want me to to put it up here).
There are just 5 steps to Print Screen Heaven
- Maximize the window you’d like to capture by clicking the button with a little window on it just to the left of the red close window button (X). If you hover the cursor over it, the tool tip“Maximise” will pop up. That’s the one!
- To take a screenshot of just the window you’re currently viewing, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the whole screen, press Print Scrn.
- Open a new document in Word or Paint (Start menu > Accessories > Paint).
- Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
- Print (or in this case, save) the document when you’ve finished pasting your screenshots.
